After the new roof has been installed excess moisture must be allowed to exit the roofing system. Press the shingle down and apply a second bead of sealant on top of the crack. Start by applying a thick bead of roofing sealant under the crack. You ll have to remove gutter brackets or straps and then refasten them after the apron is in place.

It doesn t matter how old or new your roof is buckling shingles indicate it needs a professional inspection right away. Buckling shingles are a sign of a major problem with your roof. By removing them the wrinkled tar paper can be easily repaired by cutting and reattaching it. Excess moisture must be allowed to exit the roofing system.

If the felt paper is rained on it s best to let it dry out before installing shingles. Gutter apron is available at home centers in 10 ft. A dab of roof cement every couple feet will glue it to the shingles and hold it in place. Another cause of buckling can be wetting of the felt paper which will expand if it gets wet.

In new construction it is best to let the roof sheathing acclimate to local conditions before installing the roofing although this is not always practical. Buckling shingles look like something is underneath the shingles pushing them upward. Often this is caused by moisture problems in your roofing system or occasionally defective roofing materials. Shingles are most affected due to improper installation of the tar paper.

Then existing or new shingles can be replaced.
