When your roof heats up and melts the bottom layer of snow or ice the water leaks down to the edge of your roof and freezes again creating an ice dam. The tablets help prevent roof damage by melting through ice dams and allowing water to drain safely. They work effectively in temperatures down to 25 f. Reapply the tablets as needed.

An ice dam is a solid ridge of ice that forms along the edges of your roof. Roofmelt begins to work when it comes into contact with snow and ice the roofmelt and water mixture begin to melt away the existing ice dam. There truly is no wrong way to do this. Toss roof melt into the gutters as well.

Fill pantyhose with sidewalk salt to break up ice at the edge of the roof. Secure shingle clips to roof shingles using a flathead screwdriver making sure to align them in a zigzag pattern. Distribute roof melt tablets evenly around the perimeter of the roof either near the eaves or near the gutters to assist with ice reduction. Clip in the cable along the same zigzag pattern as the shingle clips. Roofmelt is designed to melt through the ice creating relief points for drainage. Once this thick ice forms it prevents melting snow from running off the roof.
